In the previous article, we explored in depth the principle of motor spark generation and the potential hazards it brings. These sparks will not only damage the internal structure of the motor, but may also cause safety accidents and pose a threat to the stability and safety of motor equipment. Therefore, how to effectively deal with these sparks has become the key to ensuring the long-term stable and efficient operation of the motor.

 

Solution to motor spark generation

  1. Replace carbon brushes:When the carbon brushes are severely worn, current fluctuations and sparks will be generated. Timely replacement of new carbon brushes can ensure the normal operation of the motor and reduce sparks.
  2.  Cleaning brushes:If the brushes in the motor have poor contact, you can try to clean the brushes to remove dirt and oxides on the surface of the brushes, thereby improving the contact between the brushes and the motor rotor.
  3. Add a varistor inside the motor:Adding a varistor inside the motor can effectively absorb excessive voltage and protect the stable operation of the motor.
  4. Increase heat dissipation:By adding a radiator or using equipment such as a fan to increase heat dissipation, the motor load can be reduced to avoid sparks.

The motors currently produced by our company all meet the relevant grade requirements. The sparks of most micro DC motors are very small. There are different methods for spark suppression for different products and customer needs.

As shown in the table above, the most common practice is to add a varistor inside the motor. If it cannot meet customer needs, capacitors and inductors can be added to the motor terminals.

For high-power 3 and 5 series motors, if the varistor is not applicable, we provide options for built-in or external capacitors and inductors. For 5, 7, and 9 series high-voltage motors, we will confirm whether the direction is unidirectional before production. Unidirectional motors will be reversed in advance during production, such as adjusting the winding hook or moving the brush, to reduce sparks and extend the life of the motor.

At the same time, we also support customers to add capacitors and inductors according to the product structure to achieve optimal performance and ensure that the motor can maintain efficient and stable operation under various conditions.
